IN THE HISTORIC
LAHAINA INN

Lahaina Grill chef/owner Jurg Munch dramatically renovates building "Green & Clean"

We are excited to announce the completion of a three year project "greening" our historic building at 127 Lahainaluna Road in Lahaina Town, Maui. Owner, Jurg Munch has dramatically improved the energy efficiency of the Lahaina landmark which was originally built in 1938 and houses Lahaina Grill, a contemporary bistro and The Lahaina Inn, which has ten rooms and two suites.

Greening involves the process of assessing the building and the business practices and incorporating 'green' products and processes into the environment, like energy efficiency, recycling, reduction of personal environmental hazards, etc. These are not the type of renovations or investments which guests will see but which are critical to the business' overall impact on the environment. Schramsberg, Sparkling Blanc de Noirs 2004
$77 offered at $39 bottle

A distinguished winery producing wine since 1879. Blanc de Noirs (translation is white from black) is primarily from the red grape Pinot noir, this is a complex, medium-bodied, brut sparkling wine. Making a white wine from a red grape requires great care & hand-picked fruit, early morning harvest, optimal fruit maturity and delicate pressing. A balance of bright flavors, crisp acidity and minimal tannins is achieved. 92 points by Wine Spectator, described as "Rich and vibrant, with bold, complex aromas of cinnamon, vanilla, apple and cherry and subtle spice."

Ramey, Chardonnay Los Carneros 2005
$80 offered at $40 bottle

Winemaker David Ramey is widely acknowledged to be among the wine pioneers whose efforts helped raise the bar for all American winemakers and brought California to the forefront of the international wine world. Received 91 points from the Wine Advocate. The 2005 Chardonnay Los Carneros exhibits scents of lemon and lime oil intermixed with orange blossom, quince, and white currant-like notes. Medium to full-bodied with good acidity providing freshness and vibrancy.

Hanzell, Chardonnay 2005
$132 offered at $66 bottle

With only a few thousand cases produced by this Sonoma Valley winery, consider this a unique opportunity to savor this beautiful chardonnay! Glistening and bright with citrus peel (mostly grapefruit) and bread dough aromas of yeast and wet flour. Subtle flower aromas lift the pear and apple scent and the honeyed, oily richness that develops with bottle age is just beginning to emerge upon the wine's release.

Loring, Keefer Vineyard, Pinot Noir 2005
$106 offered at $53 bottle

Wine maker Brian Loring has a strict philosophy about his winemaking, "The fruit is everything!" He strongly feels that what happens in the vineyard determines the quality of the wine, he is extremely picky when choosing his grapes. This wine has a beautiful nose that mixes both blue and red berry fruit aromas nuanced with lovely spice notes and hints of earth and underbrush leading to nicely intense middle weight flavors.

Peay, Scallop Shelf Estate, Pinot Noir 2005
$116 offered at $58 bottle

Peay Vineyards is located in the far northwestern corner of Sonoma County approximately 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean near Sea Ranch. Wine features aromas of Serrano ham and lavender wrap around a cherry core with a hint of orange peel. The palate opens with a high tone pomegranate note harnessed by dried cherry, forest floor and black walnut flavors. Medium weight and structure from soft silky tannins, excellent acidity and fruit concentration but is not fat or fleshy. The finish is very long. 950 cases produced.

Silver Oak, Alexander Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon 2003
$132 offered at $66 bottle

Silver Oak Cellars has been crafting extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon for over 35 years. The 2003 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant, highly expressive wine that displays great complexity due to the multifaceted climatic conditions of the harvest season. The wine is dark ruby with a purple to red edge. Bright aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate, black tea, allspice and ginger. In the mouth, it offers a full-bodied attack, a round, balanced mid-palate redolent of cherry preserves, brown sugar and caramel and an extremely long finish of savory ripe fruit.

Groth, Cabernet Sauvignon 2002
$150 offered at $75 bottle

This outstanding vintage shows the ultimate character that is expected from Grothís estate vineyards. With full, rich aromas and flavors redolent of ripe stone fruit and dark berries, the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is a lush wine with a subtle tannin backbone that will allow the wine to become more complex with proper bottle age. Combination of Cabernet Sauvignon 76%, Merlot 24% and is aged in French oak barrels for 23 months, with 50% new oak barrels.
